The best car hire companies in Gran Canaria are Autoreisen and Plus Cars. Both have a desk at the airport and both have non-nonsense honest pricing policies that don't have any hidden insurance or fuel deposit costs. They just rent you a good car at a good price with no fuss at all.
Another good option at the airport is local company Cicar. Its prices are a little higher but you do get an in-car audio guide and again. no tricks or extra costs. If you only want a car for a few days, it's best to use a local operator, like the ones we have already mentioned, that is based in your resort.
If you stay in Las Palmas and don't want to rent a car for your whole stay (because parking can be a nightmare and it's best to move around within the city by bus or taxi), then go to Autos Sansu on Luis Morote Street. They are a local firm that has worked with foreign visitors for years and are honest and reliable.
We advise all Gran Canaria visitors to avoid booking the cheapest possible car on generic car rental websites or via their flight company because you often end up paying large deposits, extra fuel and insurance costs and all kinds of other costs once you arrive to pick up your car at the airport.
