Taurito beach itself is sandy but if you swim west towards Puerto de Mogán you can't miss the Taurito Reef; a long, shallow rock reef in just a couple of metres of water. It is teeming with fish and marine life and the water is crystal clear and sheltered.
It is one of the most beautiful places in the whole of the Canary Islands for snorkellinga and it's so close to the bech that it is the perfect place for a family to go out snorkelling together.

There is much more to snorkelling that just floating at the surface of the water and the Discover Snorkelling day is the way to unleash its full potential.
You'll get a quick instruction course about water safety and equipment use, run through how to use the snorkel once you are in the water, and then a guided tour of the Taurito reef with an experienced guide.
Then you get to use the wetsuits, fins, mask and snorkel for the rest of the day so you can return to the reef as many times as you want.
For just forty euros per person, this in a fantastic day out for couples and families and a wonderful introduction to the underwater wonders of Gran Canaria.
The day is suitable for eight years ols and up and at the end you get a PADI Skin Diver certification card for your efforts.
