Guide

Welcome to the Ultimate (Travel) Guide to Gran Canaria!

puerto_de_mogn-023 Gran Canaria is the perfect island on which to spend your holiday. A multi-faceted destination, you can enjoy many features you normally wouldn't find in such a small area.

A dream island for beach lovers, with wonderful sands to enjoy the glorious sunshine on, the most spectacular spot for sunbathing is Maspalomas's jaw-dropping sand dunes, which will leave you amazed, while the friendly atmosphere and duty-free shopping bring holidaymakers back year after year. However, it's not all sun and beaches. The island has a spectacular mountainous interior formed by ancient volcanic activity.

maspalomas-170 The greatest natural attraction of Gran Canaria is the climate, which makes it an ideal all year round holiday destination.

    Gran Canaria Places

vegueta-024 If you've never been to Gran Canaria, you might have heard of Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés and Puerto Rico. But Gran Canaria isn't just a holiday island. It's more or less 50km by 50km, and almost a million people live on it. Here, we'll list the holiday resorts but as well places that do deserve a visit. You see, Maspalomas, Puerto Rico and Playa del Inglés didn't really exist before tourists started coming to Gran Canaria in big numbers. So they do lack the typical old Spanish square where everyone gathers when the sun has set. But all over the island you will find those places, and the diversity (because of the huge geographic differences on the island) will surprise you. Some are really small but beautifully situated, such as Guayadeque, others are mid-sized towns of which Aguïmes and Gáldar are good examples and of course there is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a more or less 400.000 people city squeezed by the ocean on two sides. Heaven for shops, culture ánd beaches. Have fun exploring Gran Canaria!
