Work began a few months ago on the extension of the motorway from PR to Mogán. The work is taking place at the end of the Anfi 3 hole course with the preparatory work involving building a tunnel to ensure that the barranco does not become blocked by the new road.

There is now 24 hour a day activity on building the main twin tunnels which will take the road through to Tauro valley. These are now clearly visible and the work is now at the stage where they are blasting with explosives at least once a day. Unfortunately, there is no regard for the noise this causes. We were woken this morning at 6.50 am by a huge blast which then echoed as usual up and down the nearest valleys. Last week, there was a blast at around 2 am. The work is around a kilometre away from us so I hate to think how this is affecting residents living closer.

There's a big roundabout in Mogan that has no apparent use, I'm assuming that's where it wil come out at the end.

The motorway is planned to come into the valley of Mogán through a tunnel and cross it on a descending viaduct. Where it will end up I have no idea. Would not be surprised if it misses the big roundabout completely....

I have a roadmap carrying "ghost" markings for that extension. It ends just north of that roundabout you're probably referring to, on the road from Puerto de Mogan to Mogan. If I remember correctly there is a Cepsa petrol station quite near that roundabout.

That's the one Kari. It must have been built for some reason.

I rememeber having seen a computer 'picture' of it, the GC1 'landing' at that roundabout you're referring to.

That's settled then, unless the navigators lose the plot in the tunnels then GC1 will surface on or very near the roundabout that has no purpose right now.

Any more news on the proposed train link? Or is that another topic?
