Gran Canaria Weather Forecast

Gran Canaria Weather Forecast

We publish a new Gran Canaria weather forecast twice a week. Our forecast is based on information from the Spanish and Canary Islands weather services plus satellite and radar data. We try and be as accurate as possible but also admit to any mistakes (it's a small island and sometimes, weather just misses it) and try to explain them. Check here if you are coming on holiday to Gran Canaria and want to know what weather to expect.

Here's a useful guide to what to do on those rare rainy days in Gran Canaria. And a few hints about the weather in Gran Canaria's main resorts

13.03.2017: The hot air that gave Gran Canaria record high temperatures over the weekend has now gone completely thanks to brisk Trade Winds blowing down from the North Atlantic.
06.03.2017: This week in Gran Canaria, the weather will be hot and sunny across the island with some calima dust in the air.
A blob of cold, humid Polar air sitting over southern Spain threatens to bring cold and rain to Gran Canaria and the eastern Canary Islands this week.
14.02.2017: There's a blob of cloud and rain heading towards us and due to arrive on Wednesday, then we expect a period of warm, sunny weather for the rest of the week.
There's a low pressure heading down towards the Canary Islands from Portugal and it's going to cause cloud, wind and rain over the weekend.
06.02.2107: If you've watched the Gran Canaria weather forecasts for next week, you'll have noticed that they look a bit gnarly. There's definitely weather incoming but we're not exactly sure what it is yet.
02.02.2017: This weekend will be sunny all over Gran Canaria with little or no wind. There may be the odd afternoon shower in the south. The North Shore will be hammered by huge waves tomorrow (Friday).
16.01.2017: The epic battle between Africa and the Atlantic Ocean continues this week in the skies over the Canary Islands. Africa is winning.
13.01.2017: A quick blast of dusty African air brings calima conditions to Gran Canaria today although it will fade away by tomorrow.
09.01.2017: The dusty African air and southern winds that dominated the Gran Canaira weather over the last couple of weeks fades this afternoon.
03.01.2017: The dust will fade today and the weather in Gran Canaria should be warm, sunny and calm until at least Friday.
Strong south-east winds and calima dust return to Gran Canaria today with visibility down to 3000 metres and gusts of up to 70 kmph.
20.12.2016: This week will be sunny but cool (by Canary Islands standards) in south Gran Canaria and the resorts, and cool and cloudy in the north.
16.12.2016: The Trade Winds Pick up from Today and will be strong over the weekend. They bring cloud and showers to north Gran Canaria, but the south of the island will be a mix of sun and clouds (it may even rain).
09.12.2016: African air flows over Gran Canaria from today and will be around all weekend. It brings clear skies, warm temperatures and a bit of dust.
04.12.2016: The weather this week should improve with unseasonably high temperatures, plenty of sunshine and maybe a spot of calima towards the end of the week.
03.12.2016: Gran Canaria is due cloud, strong wind and showers starting on Saturday afternoon.
28.11.2016: While the south of Gran Canaria will get plenty of sunshine, expect a bit of everything all over Gran Canaria this week.
A cool, wet front arrives late on Monday night and will sweep over Gran Canaria and the Canary Islands on Tuesday bringing cloud, wind and showers.
